Community Partners
Staples
This office supplies retailer is our partner in the Back-To-School Supplies Project. We identify schools and community groups who will benefit from receiving the school supplies from Staples’ fundraising. We donate to Staples’ “Share a Dream” campaign in support of the Special Olympics.
Toronto Kiwanis Festival
The Festival Association works closely with educators and parents to provide exceptional competitive music and performing arts festivals annually. During the Festival, we volunteer at the music competition sites. We host a dinner at Casa Loma for the winners of our scholarships and enjoy their performances.
TFSS
(Toronto Foundation for Student Success) – The Foundation initiates programs to deal with hunger, poverty and violence to help students succeed. Our food card donations are distributed to families in the 5 schools where we have developed partnerships.
Key Clubs
One of the Kiwanis International’s Service Leadership Program is Key Club, the largest high school service organization in the world. There are 10 Key Clubs in Division 5, Maple Leaf Division, and we currently sponsor 3 Key Clubs: at Harbord Collegiate, Parkdale Collegiate, and York Memorial Collegiate. We subsidize membership dues, shirts, convention, leadership conferences and Key Leader, and volunteer with them. We celebrate student leaders at the Key Club Presidents’ Dinner and award 8 Scholarships to graduating members.
Canadian Immigration and Citizenship
In collaboration with the MIRC and Liberty Entertainment Group, a Citizenship Court is hosted at Casa Loma and the New Canadians and their families/friends are invited to celebrate at a reception after the ceremony.
Romero House
Welcoming refugees, regardless of religion, ethnicity, political beliefs, sexual orientation or gender identity, it is a safe haven for children and their families. We provide them with needed supplies from our Staples Project.
University Settlement
This multi-service agency, the first community-based social service agency in the City of Toronto, helps individuals and families learn and grow through social, cultural, recreational and educational engagement. We sponsor and volunteer at the Grange Festival in outdoor activities for more than 500 children.
West Neighbourhood House
Formerly known as St. Christopher House, its six locations provide community development programs with direct delivery of social services. Our annual donation provides opportunities for newcomer youth to express their creativity, develop entrepreneurial skills and collaborate in “The Art of Silk Screening” Design Project at their Newcomer Youth Space in Parkdale.
CAMH
(Centre for Addiction and Mental Health) – In support of CAMH programs and mental health awareness, we are the lead sponsor of the Lovely Spring Run held annually in April. We host a Christmas party for the clients of CAMH and their caregivers.
SCAW
(Sleeping Children Around the World) – 100% of our donations buys bedkits for children in developing countries through SCAW’s volunteers and worldwide partners.
